Built on research, designed for real learning
TooTak combines literacy research, classroom experience, and thoughtful design to create a learning experience that is both effective and engaging for children.

Why Learning Persian Is Different?
Learning to read Persian comes with unique challenges:
Several letters share the same sound but have different shapes (like ز، ذ، ظ، ض)
Short vowels (e, a, o) are not written, so children must learn through context and practice
Some letter combinations create special sounds that take time to recognize
To become confident readers, children need to:
Recognize letters and sounds
Decode words
Understand and interpret meaning
The Method Behind TooTak
TooTak is based on the “Art of Reading” method developed by Ali Sedaghati (Amoo Khayat), an Iranian educator and child rights advocate.
This method simplifies early learning by:
- Teaching a core set of letters first
- Introducing similar-sounding letters later
- Focusing on practice and confidence before complexity
Each letter is taught using a simple and memorable system:
- A familiar word
- A short story
- A gesture or visual cue
This helps children connect sound, meaning, and memory in a natural way.
From Letters to Reading
Children progress step by step:
Learn core letters through stories and play

Add vowels and begin combining sounds

Build simple and then more complex words

Learn remaining letters and language exceptions

Research & Development
TooTak has been developed through an ongoing research and design process in collaboration with educators, researchers, and families.
The project has:
- Been tested with families in Canada and the United States
- Evolved through multiple rounds of feedback and iteration
- Been presented at international education conferences
Our team continues to improve TooTak by studying how children learn and by working closely with the communities we serve.
Ongoing Work
We continue to develop new content, test learning outcomes, and refine the experience to ensure TooTak remains both academically grounded and enjoyable for children.
